I  wanted to express my appreciation to your staff for the excellent service I received with my prescription diving mask.  Not having a scuba shop in Des Moines, I ordered a mask and lenses through the manufacturer.  When the lenses came they were bifocals rather than the entire lens.  Ken K. was extremely helpful when I called with my dilemma.  I mailed my mask and lenses to your company on Tuesday morning and received them back Thursday, with the lens’ installed!  Please contact me if I owe you any money for the return and installation of the lenses in the mask.

Seatasea Note:  Cambodia is a facinating country filled with some of the worlds friendliest  (and poorest) people.  We recently learned of this little school in Phnom Penh for children that cannot afford school.   There is no big financing from mutli-national non-profits, no telethons, no massive office buildings with scores of staff, no TV Ads.  This is one guy and a few friends and volunteers trying to make a difference.  No one is paid other then the teachers.   Everything they get is used to help teach little kids who have no chance for an education.  Once you read about this little school and see the pictures, we hope that your heart is touched as much as ours was.  Any small donation can help their cause so much.

Students must pay a daily fee to attend Public School (Government School) in Cambodia.  Poor families and many middle class families can not afford to send their children to school.  It is estimated that 80% of the countries' children never have the opportunity to get an education.

Aogaah  (ow caw) means opportunity in Khmer, the language of Cambodia.  Aogaah Foundation's School is free.  Rent, utilities, teachers' salaries, books, writing tablets - - everything is provided for these children - - provided by people like you.

Note:  The Foundation has no paid administration.  Only the Khmer Teaching Staff receives a salary.

I recently purchased two kayaks from your store in Cedar Rapids.  I have had nothing but an enjoyable shopping experience.

First, your Monday Discover Demo Day is what sold me.  Having the opportunity to paddle on the water is the only way to test "drive" a kayak.  No other store was willing to let me do this.

Second, your staff was well educated and answered any question I had about kayaks.  No other store was able to explain the differences in kayak designs and why one kayak may suit me better than the next.  The "other" guys typical response was " this kayak costs more, so it must be better"!!

Third, I discovered a factory defect in one of my units when I got home.  Your staff resolved the problem and sent me a replacement part.  

I am sure we will enjoy our kayaks for years to come!  Thanks again for your help!

Dear Ken

The D6 worked flawlessly after it started syncing.   I had problems the first 2 dives.  Had it checked at the Dive Shop and they said it’s a learning curve between the wrist unit and the sending unit. Gave me a couple of tips and after that If I was in 25 feet of the tank when it was turned on it read it.  Annette’s new Pearl I3 worked great as  well.  It was so easy for her to use with the limited mobility of her left arm.   Got to dive the North Wall and a dive site we had yet to do there called Ghost Mountain.     Edwin and the Sieferts did great as well.  Jillian and I took them shore diving on Sunday to get everyone wet again.  Thanks for all you do for us,

We had time to run to McBride and have a nice 2 hour paddle.  DeWayne ended up really liking having a rudder..who knew?  We had been paddling 15 or 290 minutes and he starts laughing.."I'm steering with my feet!" he says. Anyway...appreciate your help and the young lady too.  Thanks...maybe Sunday we'll float the river...it's down a bit here and sounds like fun... Just wanted to let you know I'm really pleased with the new BP and cinch harness. Wow, what an improvement in fit and comfort, even without the accessory padding! Everything went together with no problems, although the instructions were a little vague. Good thing most of it is pretty obvious. Can't imagine it would work with any other backplates though, unless a person could find one with the exact bends and shape of the Halcyon. I didn't think there would be much difference, but the Halcyon BP seems to fit me better than the Fred Tagge aluminum plate I have from a purchase several years ago. Just shows it doesn't always make sense to try to save a few dollars.

Last Friday my wife and I were in your shop and purchased two kayaks (Old Town Cayuga 138 and Necky Manitou) from you.  We took them out yesterday here locally on West Lake and all we can say is "WE LOVE THEM"!  Danette (the saleswoman) was 110% correct on everything she spoke of like the handling, comfort, etc.  The only other kayaks we have ever rented/paddled with were Old town Loon's from Bluffton and comparing those to our kayaks, we are smooth paddling.
 
We had a wonderful experience  purchasing from you, and really appreciated the "no pressure sales", and the knowledge of your staff and how she answered our questions and even explained/taught a few new things to us that we were unaware of. SHE WAS EXTREMELY NICE AND VERY FRIENDLY!  We also really appreciated the help with putting the Malone rack on our vehicle from the owner there.  They hauled very nicely back to Davenport, with only one stop to re-tighten the straps for safety sake. And of course the discount when we purchased them that we received on accessories and the card we were given for a discount on future purchases from you.
 
Speaking of purchases.... ;-) We do still have our 10% off card, and have been thinking of a few items to purchase.  The main one being Cockpit Covers for both our kayaks to put on while we travel from place to place and reduce the draft the open cockpit causes when they are on top of the vehicle.  We have been looking online and were curious what two nylon ones would run from you guys with shipping...and our discount of course! ;-) If you could please let us know that would be great! And also feel free to add us to a mailing list also....

I guess you're back to Ice diving now...It's going to be 88F here tomorrow, and the water in Med is still 62 the dry suit becomes a wet suit even before I get to the water!You should try this once - then you'll learn to love your snow :)))

I've never used the closed circuit lift bag before -  it's amazing how comfortable it is!!!!!! In simulated BCD failure it was just like having another wing under the belly - so easy to control the trim and the buoyancy!

Patti Wolf of San Jose read last week's column about non-responsive online retailers and agreed that she has had "many negative experiences" of that kind. Then she added:
"But I've also had a very positive experience with one online retailer - Seatasea Watersports (www.seatasea.com).
"After a local search for a wetsuit proved fruitless, I, in desperation, went online. I chose www.seatasea.com. based solely on their merchandise and price. I needed a wetsuit in a week, and noted this in the comment section of the checkout process.
"A rep from Seatasea called me the day after I placed my order, and expressed concern about the week turnaround from Iowa to California. We talked shipping options, and he advocated priority mail instead of the more expensive UPS 2nd Day or overnight, based on prior experience. The priority cost turned out to be the same cost as Seatasea regular shipping - a flat $7 no matter what the shipping weight.

Hi Jim 
Just wanted to let you know that I got back from my Belize trip and I am officially a scuba diver!  We went to Amber Gris Caye and it was absolutely amazing, the diving was great and the dive shop we worked with was awesome.  We did a night dive which was AWESOME, and ended up going to the blue hole which was AMAZING!!  If you haven't done it I suggest doing it.  It took us 3 hours to get there, and we had to leave at 5 in the morning so that part sucked but the diving was great.  It was my first dive that I actually went down that far (130ft) so I was a little scared at first but once I got down there it was great.  On the way up we had 8 coral reef sharks circling around on the top of us that was enough to almost make me loose it but it was truly a sight to see.  Then on another dive I got to hold a nurse shark which was awesome.
Anyway just wanted to let you know that it went well and I appreciate all the help you gave me in the class.  Hope to see you at Eggys some time soon, have a great day!

I went on a cruise and went diving this weekend in the Bahamas.  Thanks for  your class I was able to do it and not panic.  It was great to be able to conquer my fear.  I even went by myself because my daughter did not want to dive.We are going on a cruise again and it will be in Montego Bay, Jamaica.Georgetown, Grand Cayman and Cozumel, Mexico.  Should we just book through the ship for scuba diving or do you have some dive shops we can sign up with for these locations.

I just wanted to thank you ALL again for your encouragement, support, patience, and understanding in helping me successfully complete my scuba certification. The very first time in the pool my fear, anxiety, and panic was almost crippling.  For a short time I didn't think I could do it, and even after the pool work, I wasn't sure I could handle the open water. I consider it a  monumental accomplishment for me to have fought through the fear and anxiety. I could have easily given up, but I really wanted to do this not only for Marty, but for myself!  Ken and Jim, you made the open water so much easier for me with your humor and laid back approach.  I never felt rushed or pushed which eased my anxiety tremendously.  I felt you had faith that I could do it, which also eased my anxiety. 

Thanks again, can't say it enough. You have a walking, talking word of mouth advertisement  from us both here in Waterloo from now on!  This was the toughest thing I've ever had to fight through--I can do anything now.  Maui here we come....

After completing my diving certification I would like to sincerely thank the seatasea staff.  You are a fun
and interesting group of people.  Humans were not designed to live under water so the whole scuba

Hey Ken:

I just wanted to thank you for the advise on the long sleeve wetsuit.  I competed in the International Distance Chicago Triathlon this weekend and put up a personal best time in the swim.  It was the first time I ever used a full wetsuit in a competition  The wetsuit did give me a lot extra bouyancy and helped conserve a lot of energy.  I was also able to complete the bike in a personal best time.  My run wasn't as good, but you can't ask for everything. I beat my goal of 3:00 hours by nine minutes and do credit a lot of that to the swim.

Wade from Edmonton, Canada.  Just letting you know that everything arrived safe and sound.  Both packages took exactly 3 weeks to arrive.  Even with the Christmas rush.  I managed to try everything out last night in our large public dive tank.  I’m so happy with the outcome, there better than I had expected.  I’ll be sure to pass you and your company name around to the divers around here.  And for sure I will be pricing things out so I can order more goodies from you.  Take care and talk to you soon.

Ken and All at Seatasea,

Well we're back from Maui and the trip was phenomenal !  We'll send some pics to ya soon.  Ken, you were right, I was smiling ear to ear the entire trip.  Scuba went great, we did five dives and tons of snorkling.  We used mostly Lahaina Divers as our dive shop, and they were awesome. We even went to a place called Cathedrals Lana'i which is a cathedral-like structure you swim into with sunlight shining through, unbelievable!! The dive master even told me I did a textbook giant stride into the water. Go figure...after our first dive my anxiety was zero and really not much then.  We would have even done more diving but, YIKES, it's expensive, but the snorkling was about as good.  Well, just wanted to let you know the trip was amazing and I do LOVE scuba --so glad I fought through the fear.  I would have missed out on so much otherwise.  Marty is also happy that we can now SHARE this experience, he patiently waited ten years. Thanks again for your support, and believing that I could do it. I'm a stronger person now...I was told that courage is when you have a fear of something, but do it anyway !

Our high adventure trip to florida sea base went extremely well. Just wanted to say thanks for the help and the loan of the equipment for snorkle training. The scouts who came to your shop to purchase items could not say enough nice things about your shop and staff.
