Seatasea 2010 Beginning Kayaking Course

3 Dates to choose from

Saturday - June 5

Saturday - July 17

Saturday - August 21

Seatasea is pleased to offer the only  Kayaking instruction that we know of in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area.  Even if you may know a few things about paddling we're confident that you'll have a much better paddling experience, with help from Seatasea's paddling instructors.

For starters, we invite you to take our Intro to Kayaking course either before or after you buy. You'll learn about kayaks, accessories and safety equipment, basic strokes, self-rescue techniques and how to be a safer paddler. Our paddling instructors will give you valuable feedback on your techniques. You'll also have plenty of time during the 5-hour lesson to practice what you've learned. Our goal is to make the whole experience fun and easy.

Our Equipment:

You'll choose from a wide variety of boats from Old Town, Necky, Ocean Kayak, Hobie and Wilderness Systems along with a full range of high quality accessories.  You'll need appropriate clothing for the weather and water conditions as well as footwear that can get wet, a beach towel and something to eat for lunch. You may also wish to bring bottled water or the non-alcoholic beverage of your choice.

Fees & Registration & Location

Fees:  Cost for the course is $75 per person and includes all instruction and equipment.  For specific dates and times please see our calendar or go to Kirkwood Community College Continuing Education  (Under Recreation-Sports)

The $75 fee is payable upon registration and is non-refundable for no-shows.

Location:  Seatasea Paddling Courses are taught at Pleasant Creek State Recreational Area at the Kayaking/Windsurfing Beach on the south side of the lake.

Pleasant Creek State Rec Area is located a couple miles north of the town of Palo, Iowa.  When you enter the park you will come to a "T" in the road at the lake.  Take a left towards the main boat ramp.  Take your first right that you can into a small cul-de-sac.  If you go to the main boat ramp you have gone too far.

* For courses offered through Kirkwood Community College, by Seatasea,  please register with Kirkwood Community College Con Ed.  (Under Recreation-Sports)

How about a GROUP course?  Got a group of 6 or more?  We would be happy to arrange a private training course for you!
